Maldives Diving Tips. Be Careful When Around Triggerfish
Posted on | April 8, 2010 |
Always be careful when around certain types of fish. Because some of them can easily be threatened and may react defensively.
Triggerfish like most marine life in the Maldives all have their own ways to defend themselves. First of all triggerfish are coral eating fish that go around in groups and like to dwell in caves and thilas or tunnels. Since triggerfish gnaw on corals for food it is safe to assume that triggerfish have a considerably strong bite that may pose danger to human divers if provoked.
Most experienced divers advice that when around triggerfish it is best to keep lights to a minimum and no sudden movements. Because the triggerfish may perceive sudden movements as a threat and in turn may try to defend itself. Keep in mind to always keep your distance and move slowly.
Triggerfish are one of the most largest and colorful fishes in the Maldives. They usually pose no danger but still precautions must always be taken into consideration.
